THE YELLOW SERIES, by Nico Smith

The Abstracts are Coming…

My daughter and I just got some great new abstract paintings in New York - I’m going to pick them up next week.  Will post photos as we get them scanned - Call to reserve an appointment to take them out on approval :)

That’s my coffee table and my daughter’s sculptures!

Cloud-dwellers… is this the time to discuss Lucite?  Besides being my favorite material, it’s cropping up in chic spots from Manhattan boutiques, to Elle Decor and Architectural Digest, to smart blogs like Georgia Tapert Howe’s Carolina George.

Tables available at HOFFIES ($1100, 478-477-7208), Alan Moss ($14,500, 212-473-1310… hey, different area codes, different prices).  Sculpture is mine - from Katie Peyton Studios.

My daughter posted my Moroccan lanterns on her blog - she’s seen them at Tracy Reese and Elle Decor Magazine.

MOROCCON WHITES

Moroccan design usually involves exotic patterns in a riot of bright colors.  Which works great in a hotel or restaurant… because eventually, you will leave.

But lately, smart designers have been using Moroccan patterns in clean white to invoke the cooler side of the style without the riot of color.  It’s an understated way to put a little exoticism and sophistication into your home.

This gorgeous Pipa stool is a commitment piece, for $1700 at Treillage.  But we think the ginger jars are the steal.  We ordered the large one for my mother to carry in her store (HOFFIES) in Georgia for $140… imagine our surprise when a few months later, we saw the exact same jar in Williams Sonoma for $238!

We are so excited - we just found this amazing mid-century Lucite coffee table at an architect’s estate sale and it’s on its way to Hoffies!  $1100 and it should be here soon!
We’ve been seeing Lucite coffee tables everywhere lately!  We thought this table at Alan Moss with red trim was AMAZING, but it’s a little pricey at $14,500.  We also like this one at Mecox Gardens for $2400.
But we think the one we bought is a little jewel.  An added bonus - no sharp corners.

COSMOPOLITAN CLOISONNE

My daughter just sent me a picture of my vases made into lamps - wow!  She was the one who originally talked me into getting them for the shop… :)  She says she would use them with this Juju hat from Cameroon she saw in Lonny Magazine… what do you think about that?

Should I have mine made into lamps, or let the decorator that buys them decide??
